Where To Take Your Branding Photos
LOCATION IDEAS
Branding photography isn’t only for businesses that have a brick and mortar or physical office space.
So many successful businesses are either 100% virtual or able to flex time between their home office and being out in the field (like photographers). Regardless of where your business falls, you’ll want (and you deserve) killer photographs that show off your product/service and - of course - YOU!
Location Ideas For Your Brand Photos
If you have a physical space for your business - that’s the ideal location for your shoot. However, sometimes it’s not possible due to being in the middle of a transition, or your space having less-than-ideal lighting or design.
If your business doesn’t have a physical space, you have to get creative in thinking about where to hold your session. Below, I’ve listed some out-of-the-box options for locations we can use to ensure your branding photos reflect you - and communicate your business’s vibe and values.
Local Cafes & Restaurants
Many entrepreneurs work long hours at their local cafes and restaurants - especially when first starting their biz. You know the places I’m talking about. They have the best lattes and fastest wifi. Well, these local gems are often great spots to grab some branding shots (as long as we have permission, of course).
Rent A Studio Space
If you live in a major metropolitan area, you probably have access to some amazing studio spaces. Peerspace is a great resource for photo shoot locations for rent in your area. From elegant homes to artsy studios, you can rent locations that match your brand’s style by the hour. Use this link to get $50 off your first booking (must be over $150).
Co-Working Spaces
Co-working spaces are popping up at every turn, which is a great asset when you have a business that can run from home. It’s nice to have a space (that you don’t have to clean) to work from and also to use for taking branding photos. Check to see if using the space for photographs is a part of your membership. If so, this can end up being a great (and affordable) option.
Outdoor Shopping Spaces
This might seem like a stretch, but outdoor shopping spaces (especially in the early morning) are great spots because they offer a variety of backdrops without having to drive to multiple locations. They are usually full of architectural details and have plenty of restaurants, and coffee shops boasting clean design elements. A few of my favorites in Orange County are Lido Marina Village, Fashion Island, Spectrum, and Pacific City. Be sure to look into permits for these outdoor spaces so you don’t run into trouble with security.
Local Parks and Recreation Areas
Southern California has no shortage of beautiful parks, beaches and public trails. And collectively, they provide simple and stunning solutions for your branding photos. No matter where you live, you should be able to easily find some green space. Your photographer will be able to tell you what time of day will capture the prettiest light and should scout the location before the shoot so they are familiar with it.
Your Home
More and more customers and clients want to feel authentically connected to businesses they patron. What’s more real than having a few of your photos taken in your home?! This might be a great second location option if you are first able to shoot at another nearby location like a cafe or park.
Moral of the story? Don’t stress over where you should take your branding photographs. As noted above - you’ve got plenty of options! Need help finding a location in Southern California? Connect with me here - I’d be happy to share my thoughts.
