Prepping Your Skin for Picture-Perfect Branding Photos

SKINCARE TIPS

Let’s be honest…

Your main concerns about your brand shoot are about how you’ll look in the final photos.

No one wants to feel disappointed in the pictures that are supposed to represent their business to the world!

That’s why one of the most frequent questions I’m asked is how to apply makeup to look natural and flawless on camera.

How to Prepare Your Skin For
Picture-Perfect Brand Photos

I’m so excited to partner with Diane of Diane Rochelle Beauty to bring you the best tips and tricks for flawless makeup on the day of your brand shoot!

But before we jump into makeup, Diane also had some great tips about skincare and prepping your skin. After all, the base of great makeup is great skin!

#1: Start with skincare, the foundation of flawless makeup

Every great makeup look begins with healthy, well-prepped skin. Before you dive into your makeup routine, make sure your face is clean and properly moisturized. A good cleanse removes any lingering dirt or oil that could interfere with your makeup, while a moisturizer suited to your skin type hydrates and preps your skin for a smooth, even application.

#2: Customize your routine to your skin type and the season

As the weather cools down and the air becomes drier, your skin needs a little extra TLC. With less moisture in the air and indoor heating systems in full swing, your skin can quickly become dehydrated. Combat this by switching to a richer moisturizer or incorporating a hydrating serum into your routine. This helps maintain your skin’s suppleness, ensuring your makeup glides on effortlessly and stays put all day.

#3: Exfoliation is the key to smooth application

Is your brand shoot coming up? Plan to gently exfoliate your skin the day before. Exfoliating helps slough off dead skin cells, giving you a smoother texture and allowing your makeup to apply more evenly—perfect for those close-up shots!

#4: Apply primer for a lasting look

Don’t forget the primer! It’s the secret weapon for addressing concerns like large pores or redness and it helps your makeup last longer. Think of it as the final step in your skincare routine that sets the stage for a flawless look that will last through the entire day of your shoot!

#5: Always remove your makeup at the end of the day!

After a long day in front of the camera, it’s tempting to crash into bed without taking off your makeup—but resist the urge! Removing your makeup before bed is crucial for maintaining healthy, clear skin. Leftover makeup can clog pores and lead to breakouts. Use a gentle makeup remover or micellar water to lift away makeup without stripping your skin. Follow up with a cleanser and your regular nighttime skincare routine to keep your skin fresh, rejuvenated, and ready for the next day.
