5 Fail-Proof Looks for Your Brand Session

WHAT TO WEAR

Time and time again, I am asked by my clients: “What should I wear for my brand session?”

This is one of the biggest pain points I see women struggling with as they prepare to get in front of the camera.

There are so many variables when it comes to putting together your looks, from body shape to style, season and color, plus making sure that the general vibe fits with your brand.

How to Choose Fail-Proof Looks For Your Brand Session

I’ve partnered with Personal Wardrobe Stylist Danielle King to give you five fail-proof looks that will work across a wide range of industries and that flatter multiple body shapes. She’s created a formula for each look that includes the core pieces which can then be customized based on your unique style.

#1: The “Classic Cool Girl” Look

If work-life balance were an outfit, it would look a little like this. This outfit concept is all about balance. To achieve it, simply pair an elevated piece (a blazer) with an easier, more casual style (a t-shirt and pair of jeans). The result is a polished yet relaxed look that gives you an air of effortless elegance.

A forever favorite combination for photo day or every day, pair a black or camel blazer with a staple white or striped tee and boyfriend jeans rolled to the ankle, clean white sneakers (or go rogue and have some fun with patterns) and BOOM… hey, cool girl!

#2: The “All-In-One” Look

Whether it’s a silky, feminine, and drapey version, or the modern, one-piece sister to the power suit, opt for a forever-flattering silhouette like a jumpsuit to look polished and effortlessly put together. Fit is very important with any jumpsuit, so look for one that will complement your natural shape.

#3: The “Business With a Twist” Look

When you start with classic pieces like a blouse and black pants, you have all the structure in place for a polished look. What really makes this look shine is adding your personality with the shoe choice and details.

This laser cut blouse offers visual detail and interesting lines paired with effortless, classic black pants and pumps or flats with a twist. Accessorize with simple but stylish earrings.

#4: The “Comfortable Casual” Look

Imagine cozying up with a warm cup of coffee and your favorite book. To achieve this comfortable, yet polished look start with a soft textured top in neutral-colored knit or lace. Add  simple denim jeans for an inviting, relaxed, and luxe feeling. Pair with a patterned or woven shoe to add an unexpected touch and to finish off with a bit more texture from head-to-toe.

#5: The “Dress-the-Part” Look

That feeling when you put on a dress that looks like it was made for YOU! This will vary for every woman, but use this as an opportunity to show off your personality and style. From long to short, simple silhouettes to interesting textures, the sky's the limit.

Figure slimming and ready for its closeup, opt for a knit dress with an interesting neckline so that your waist-up headshots offer up some visual interest. Alternatively, go for a youthful playfulness with interesting details like pleats, lace, or dimension. Pair with simple nude or black pumps and gold earrings to keep the focus on you and your dress choice.
